Volleyball Training Program

Formulating a highly effective volleyball training program is not a particularly difficult matter but certain crucial factors must be included in the plan. As with all sporting activity it is important to ensure that a proper nutritional diet is not neglected. Then, of course, a suitable exercise training program carried out on a regular basis is vital. Both the diet and the training exercises, though, must fit to the optimum the specific sporting activity involved. In this regard, volleyball is no exception. Therefore, volleyball centric thinking and application must always be a top priority. This is especially true for the exercise training aspect of the plan because the fitness, skills and movement required to achieve top class performance are often quite specific.

The importance of a proper nutritional diet is paramount. Regularly engaging in a sport training program is nothing like regularly engaging in sedentary lifestyle activity. The body must have fuel and lots of it. This extra fuel is required due to consistently undertaking long work out sessions on several occasions a week if not every day of the week. There is a particular need for extra protein, too. The protein plays an important role in muscle rebuilding and it will enable the body to quickly replenish itself and be ready for the next training session to come.

A fully rounded, fully inclusive exercise program always requires that attention be paid to developing strength, suppleness and stamina. The same applies to an exercise program devoted to volleyball preparation. However, as well as this general focus there are quite specific body areas, playing skills and other requirement which apply specifically to volleyball.

It is essential, therefore, that the training program includes the specific as well as the general. One aspect of the game involves vertical jumps. These jumps must be as high as possible. Not only that but very often the jumps must be made extremely quickly and powerfully. Enough power to ensure tremendous lift off in order to rise as high as possible. This action demands unusual lower body power so part of the regular training undertaken must be devoted to this game requirement.

As well as developing jump skill, a player requires unusual speed and agility because there is so much quick and varied movement required throughout a game. It is a game played at an intensely demanding pace. This then leads to the demand for unusual stamina but the training required is not just based on aerobic type stamina training but rather on a type to enhance power endurance, too.

Therefore, diet and exercise are crucial aspects to focus on. Beyond that, though, it is crucial the aspects are adapted to suit preparation for volleyball itself. For diet, that includes full sport nutrition standards with an emphasis on the regular supply of enough protein. For exercise, there is the all round general training requirement along with the specific requirements of the sport itself. Providing all of this is fully understood and accepted then drawing up the diet and exercise plan to make a complete volleyball training program is a straightforward task.
